About · Doug Montgomery · Powell, Wyoming

One developer. Twenty years. No middlemen.

I'm Doug Montgomery. I've been building websites and software since 2003 — first as a WordPress shop, then running Wyohost, now as AI1offs. The person who picks up the phone is the same person writing the code.

The short version

Builder, not agency.

I started writing PHP for small business websites in 2003. Spent a decade running Wyohost, a WordPress hosting + development shop, and another decade building custom apps for businesses that needed something off-the-shelf software couldn't quite do.

AI1offs is the studio I run today. The work is one-off custom software — apps, integrations, websites, AI workflows that solve a specific real problem for a specific real business. No retainers, no platforms, no "let's get you on a discovery sprint."

If you can describe the problem clearly, I can usually build the solution. If I can't, I'll say so and point you somewhere better. That's the whole pitch.

Timeline

Twenty-plus years.
One trade.

  1. '03

    First lines of PHP

Built sites for local businesses out of a spare bedroom. Learned the unglamorous truth: most "tech problems" are actually communication problems. Still mostly true.

  2. '10

    Wyohost

Founded a WordPress hosting + dev shop. Spent a decade managing infrastructure, fixing other people's plugins, and learning what breaks at 3am so I could stop it from breaking at all.

  3. '18

    Custom apps

Started taking on full-stack builds — Node, React, Postgres, the works. Real apps for real operators: tournament platforms, customer portals, monitoring tools, document automation.

  4. '24

    AI1offs

Folded everything under one roof. The new wave — practical AI, n8n workflows, edge compute — but the same model: one developer, fixed scope, fixed price, the source code is yours when we're done.

  5. now

    Open for work

Currently taking on 2–3 new builds per quarter alongside ongoing client work. If your problem is real and the scope is honest, let's talk.

What working with me looks like

No agency theatre.
Just the work.

Most "agencies" are five strangers, a Slack channel, and a discovery phase that bills by the hour. We do less of all of that. Here's the shape:

  • You talk to the builder

No PMs, no account managers, no "I'll loop in our solution architect." Text, call, email — same person every time.

  • Fixed scope, fixed price

You get a real quote on the first call. Not a "starting at." Not a discovery phase billed hourly. The number is the number.

  • Working preview in week one

Every build, every time. You see real software running on real infrastructure within seven days — not a Figma file, not a slide deck.

  • You own everything

Source code, repos, deployment, domains — all yours. No "platform fees," no rented black boxes, no lock-in clauses you'll regret in a year.

Let's talk

Same builder. Same number. Same trade.

30 minutes on the phone. Free, no pitch. You describe what you need; I tell you what's possible, what it'd cost, and how long it'd take. If I'm not the right fit, I'll say so.

Or email [email protected] directly — every email lands in front of the developer, not a sales filter.
